Every year, hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and other natural disasters cause billions of dollars in damage.
And while weather forecasting has improved dramatically, predicting exactly when and where dangerous conditions will strike remains a challenge.
ACME AtronOmatic wants to change that.
The company is the developer of MyRadar, a popular weather app used by more than 15 million people.
But now it's taking its technology a step further.
ACME is developing a network of satellites that will monitor Earth from space, using artificial intelligence to detect weather patterns, track environmental threats, and provide more accurate forecasts.
Here's how it works:
MyRadar already provides users with real-time weather information, including radar imagery, storm tracking, and severe-weather alerts.
Its AI technology can also predict rainfall and help users anticipate changing conditions.
The app is available on smartphones, computers, and other connected devices. And it's become one of the most popular weather apps in the country.
MyRadar has received more than one million reviews on Apple's App Store, where it has maintained a rating of approximately 4.8 out of five stars.
Now ACME wants to make the app even more powerful.
The company is developing its own constellation of small satellites equipped with sensors and AI technology.
These satellites are intended to collect environmental information directly from orbit, including data about clouds, storms, and wildfires.
By combining this information with MyRadar's existing technology, ACME hopes to provide faster and more accurate predictions.
But the opportunity extends beyond helping consumers decide whether to carry an umbrella.
Businesses, government agencies, and emergency responders need reliable weather information, too.
Airlines, shipping companies, agricultural businesses, and insurance providers all make important decisions based on weather conditions.
ACME believes its satellite technology could eventually provide valuable information to these customers, creating an entirely new revenue stream.
The company is targeting the rapidly growing market for cloud-based software and data services.
According to Fortune Business Insights, the global Software-as-a-Service market was valued at roughly $318 billion in 2024 and is projected to exceed $1.2 trillion by 2032.
ACME plans to participate in this market by selling weather intelligence and environmental data through subscription services.
Importantly, the company already has an established business.
MyRadar generates revenue through advertising, premium subscriptions, and other paid services.
Its subscription revenue grew by an average of 57% annually between 2019 and 2024.
And in 2024, the company reported that monthly app revenue exceeded $1 million for the first time during July, August, and September.
According to its latest annual financial disclosure, ACME generated approximately $11.1 million in revenue in 2025, an 8% increase from the previous year.
The company has also attracted interest from government organizations.
It has worked on advanced weather-prediction technology for the Office of Naval Research and was selected as a finalist in the XPRIZE Wildfire competition.
